Update On Priority WR Target

CLEMSON — Clemson’s top wide receiver target took home MVP honors at a recent Under Armor camp.

Four-star Jamarin Simmons (Amos P. Godby, FL) was named WR MVP at the camp held in Orlando over the weekend.

247 named Simmons the “Alpha Dog” of the event.

“A technician with his feet, Simmons is an explosive mover that can drop his mark at the line of scrimmage or at the top of his routes with his burst and agility,” Andrew Ivins wrote. “He’s on the leaner side now, but he’s got longer arms and will make acrobatic grabs with his reach as he attacks the football. The highlight of the afternoon for Simmons came on a double move where he shot up the seam and tapped his toes in the back of the end zone for six points.

Simmons was the first 2027 receiver to pick up an offer after an impressive showing at camp last June. He is still just one of two uncommitted wide receivers to hold an offer from Clemson. The Tigers already hold a commitment from four-star Trey Wimbley, who reclassified from the 2028 class to 2027.

The 5-foot-11 playmaker already had well over two dozen offers, but since his performance over the weekend, both Georgia and LSU have pulled the trigger. Florida State and Miami are also heavily involved.

Simmons was last on campus for the season-opening loss to LSU last season and is set to return for the Elite Retreat on March 7. He tells TCI he also plans to attend the big official visit weekend from May 29-31.

As a junior, Simmons reeled in 59 catches for 932 yards with 14 touchdowns. He also went 2-of-2 passing for 120 yards with one touchdown throw.

247 ranks him No. 63 overall, No. 8 among all receivers in his class and No. 5 in the state of Florida.
