Day 1 of on-field workouts at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Thursday featured impressive performances from a pair of Clemson defensive linemen – tackle DeMonte Capehart and edge rusher T.J. Parker.
The 6-foot-5, 313-pound Capehart posted a time of 4.85 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a 10-yard split of 1.71 seconds, a vertical jump of 33.5 inches and a broad jump of 8 feet, 11 inches.
NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter named Capehart as one player whose stock is up after his showing at the combine — one of the players “who undoubtedly impressed the league’s personnel decision-makers with their on-field performance” on Day 1.
“Capehart has the measurables of a top DT prospect, standing 6-foot-5, 313 pounds with 10 1/4-inch hands and 33 7/8-inch arms,” Reuter wrote. “He impressed with a 4.85-second 40-yard dash and 33 1/2-inch vertical. His movement skills were the best among the taller tackles in the workouts. He operated smoothly around obstacles, using his length to knock away dummies in drills. He was not overly productive in college (4.5 tackles for loss over his last 23 games), so he needed Thursday’s performance to show teams he can grow into a difference-making penetrator at 3-technique.”
Meanwhile, Parker shined during on-field workouts at the combine Thursday as well.
The 6-foot-4, 263-pounder posted a time of 4.68 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a 10-yard split of 1.61 seconds, a vertical jump of 34 inches and a broad jump of 10 feet.
ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid says that Parker continued to revive his draft stock with his showing at the combine.
“The revival of T.J. Parker’s draft stock continues,” Reid wrote. “After a disappointing final season at Clemson, he has continued to build on his impressive Senior Bowl week with a good performance at the combine. Parker ran a 4.68 40 and had a 34-inch vertical at 6-foot-4, 263 pounds. Parker’s ascension has resulted in him being back in the picture to be picked at the end of Round 1.”
The 2026 NFL Draft will take place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
A 2023 freshman All-American and 2024 All-ACC selection, Parker piled up 144 tackles (41.5 for loss), 21.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and five pass breakups over 39 games (29 starts) in his Clemson career from 2023-25. He leaves Tigertown ranked 10th in career sacks and tied for fourth in career fumble recoveries, and he set the Clemson record for forced fumbles in a single season with six in 2024.
Capehart spent six years at Clemson from 2020-25 and was a staple on the Tigers’ defensive front the past two seasons, starting 12 games and appearing in 23. During his career, he was credited with 88 tackles (13.5 for loss), three sacks, five pass breakups and a forced fumble over 57 games.
