Clemson is expanding the board at tight end.
Three-star Tommy Douglas (Hun School, NJ) picked up an offer from the Tigers on Saturday, becoming just the third player at the position in the 2027 class to hold one from Clemson.
The other two tight ends with offers were four-star Jaxon Dollar and three-star Grant Haviland, both of whom were expected to be on campus for the Elite Retreat over the weekend. Both picked up offers last June.
Dollar is considered one of the top tight ends in the class, while Haviland ranks No. 17 among players at the position in the Rivals Industry Rankings. Both players previously visited for the LSU game last season and worked out at camp last summer.
Douglas already holds more than two dozen offers, including Alabama, Georgia Tech, Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee and South Carolina.
As a junior, Douglas reeled in 33 catches for 640 yards with seven touchdown grabs.
247 Sports ranks the 6-foot-4, 235-pounder as the 17th-best tight end in the class.
Clemson typically takes one tight end each recruiting cycle, and tight ends coach Kyle Richardson has generally had a lot of success landing one of his top targets who get the first offers. It hasn’t been very often that he’s had to expand his board.
Last year, three-star Tayveon Wilson picked up one of the first two offers and ultimately signed with the Tigers. In the 2025 class, it was four-star Logan Brooking who was the player Richardson wanted. He signed and redshirted last season. In 2024, it was four-star Christian Bentancur.
The last time Richardson didn’t hit on one of his top targets was in 2023, when three-star Markus Dixon committed to and signed with the Tigers. He transferred to Oregon in January.
