One of Clemson’s top defensive line targets took home some hardware at an Under Armor camp on Sunday.
Three-star in-state DT Jaden Wuerth (Dutch Fork) was named defensive line MVP after an impressive showing at the UA Next camp in Atlanta.
While Wuerth didn’t pick up his offer from the Tigers until January, he’d been on the radar of the coaching staff for quite some time. He’s visited several times now, with the latest coming of the Elite Retreat last weekend.
“It went great,” Wuerth told The Clemson Insider of the visit. “I loved every part of it.”
South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Miami and NC State are just some of the other offers Wuerth now holds. However, it’s Clemson that is currently setting the pace.
“Right now, Clemson is at the very top for me,” Wuerth also said. “It is just the welcoming feel. I have not been anywhere yet that feels like Clemson does. I feel like I will be set up to succeed not only football-wise but also outside of football. They will turn me into a great person and a great football player.”
As a junior, which was also his first season at Dutch Fork, Wuerth registered 62 tackles with 12 tackles for loss in helping the Silver Foxes to another state title. He also had four sacks and three forced fumbles.
