This particular newcomer has made quite the impression on Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris during spring practice.
Morris named true freshman wide receiver Gordon Sellars III as one of the Tigers’ offensive standouts this spring outside of the quarterback position.
“To be a freshman, he’s had a really good spring,” Morris said following Wednesday’s practice. “He was out a couple days… but he was back this week, and he’s made some incredible catches. So, he’s got a great future ahead of him. But again, a guy that’s learning how to get off press coverage and stuff like that. But Gordo’s really flashed.”
Before enrolling at Clemson in January, Sellars — a two-time all-state and all-conference honoree — tallied 2,419 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns on 133 career receptions at Providence Day School in Charlotte, N.C.
As a senior, the four-star prospect produced 59 receptions for 917 yards and 15 touchdowns while helping guide Providence Day to a perfect 13-0 record and the third state title of his career.
Morris also mentioned redshirt junior Tyler Brown as another receiver who’s stood out this spring.
“Tyler has taken just about every rep, and being intentional with how he practices,” Morris said. “I’ve been pleased watching him with that.”
In 2023, Brown earned freshman All-American honors and led the Tigers in both receptions (52) and receiving yards (531), before an ankle injury severely impacted his 2024 season, forcing him to take a redshirt.
Last season, the Greenville High School product caught 22 passes for 191 yards and rushed six times for 71 yards with a touchdown in 356 offensive snaps over 13 games (three starts) while serving as the backup slot receiver behind Antonio Williams, who declared for the 2026 NFL Draft following his redshirt junior campaign.
