Bakich Provides Update On Injured Slugger

CLEMSON — With Clemson facing its share of struggles on the baseball diamond to start ACC play, the Tigers can currently use all the help they can get.

One player who could possibly add some more pop to the lineup is injured slugger Collin Priest. The first baseman/DH has yet to play this season due to a hamstring injury.

Erik Bakich was asked after Thursday’s loss to Miami how close he was to getting Priest back in the lineup, and the head coach had a two-word response.

“Not close.”

Last season, Priest hit 12 home runs, 11 doubles and drove in 52 runs. He posted similar numbers as a freshman at Michigan in 2024, belting 11 homers with 30 RBI.

With the team having hit just 34 long balls across the first 27 games, getting Priest back could provide a spark from a power perspective. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be happening anytime in the near future.
