CLEMSON — Clemson University’s Compensation Committee on its Board of Trustees officially approved the salary of three assistant coaches, two of them new.
As The Clemson Insider reported last week, the Compensation Committee approved the hiring of men’s basketball coaches Chad Warner and Chris Harriman on Monday. They also approved a raise for current Clemson assistant Sean Dixon.
In a press release, the athletic department also announced the official hiring of Andre Morgan to Brad Brownell’s coaching staff. His contract did not require board approval. Morgan, according to his term sheet obtained by TCI, will earn $325,000 per year for the next two seasons.
Warner’s and Harriman’s salaries were both approved at $400,000 a year, while Dixon’s salary jumped from $375,000 to $400,000, and is a new two-year deal that will run through the 2027-28 basketball season.
Harriman’s and Warner’s contracts are also two-year deals that run through the 2027-28 season.
Warner spent the 2025-26 season on Niko Medved’s staff at Minnesota. He spent the previous three seasons at Furman, the first two as an assistant before being promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2024-25 campaign.
Furman finished with a 25-10 overall record in 2024-25, advanced to the Southern Conference Championship title game and competed in the National Invitation Tournament. Warner assisted in leading the 2022-23 Paladins to a school-record 28 victories, highlighted by an 88-79 triumph over Chattanooga in the SoCon Championship game and a 68-67 victory over No. 4 seed Virginia in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
“I’m excited to welcome Chad and his family to Clemson,” said Brownell in a release from the Clemson Athletic Department. “Chad is an excellent teacher and will help me develop an offensive identity for this team. His experience, coaching philosophy and values align well with our program. I love that Chad has head coaching experience, which will help us navigate this new world of college basketball.”
A longtime Division I assistant, Harriman joins the Tigers in 2026-27. He previously served two seasons on Chris Mack’s staff at Charleston from 2024-26, helping guide the program to 45 victories in two seasons, including a 24-9 overall record and an appearance in the CAA semifinals in 2024-25.
Harriman brings 24 years of extensive experience from the Big Ten, Pac-12, Mountain West, Atlantic 10 and CAA, along with a proven track record of success to the program.
Prior to his time in Charleston, Harriman spent one season on the staff at Saint Louis in a second stint for Travis Steele. He spent four seasons at California and served as associate head coach at New Mexico for four years (2015-19). He also spent three years at Nebraska (2012-2015) where he played a key role recruiting several All-Big 10 selections to guide the team to the NCAA Tournament in 2014.
“We’re excited to welcome Chris and his family to Tigertown,” said Brownell. “I’ve been friends with Chris for a long time and have admired his work at several different places. I look forward to us being able to work together. Chris brings a tireless work ethic and his knowledge and understanding of the game, paired with his elite recruiting prowess will be a great benefit to our program here at Clemson.”
Morgan joined the Cincinnati men’s basketball staff in April 2021 as an assistant coach for Wes Miller. During his time at Cincinnati, the Bearcats won 100 games including two 20-win seasons.
Morgan went to Cincinnati after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach for Middle Tennessee State University in Conference USA working under Nick McDevitt.
From 2016-2018, Morgan was an assistant coach under Coach Miller at UNC Greensboro. While at UNCG, he helped lead the Spartans to a 52-18 record overall and a 29-17 mark in Southern Conference play while advancing to the 2018 NCAA Tournament and 2017 National Invitational Tournament.
The Spartans won the 2018 regular season and tournament titles in the SoCon and won a share of the 2017 regular season title, earning the No. 1 seed before falling in the championship game. The last two seasons marked the first two times in the program’s history they earned a No. 1 seed in the SoCon Tournament.
Morgan served one season as the associate head coach at Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers posted a 27-4 record in his lone season in Owensboro while winning the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and advancing to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional.
“We’re excited to welcome Andre and his family to Clemson,” said Brownell. “Andre has gained great experience in both coaching and recruiting at the high major level during his time at Cincinnati. He is an energetic young coach with a positive personality that I know will resonate well with our players and our staff. He has worked on both sides of the ball and is a good teacher of the game. He will be heavily involved in player development here at Clemson.”
