CBS Sports ranked the 10 most “lethal” wide receivers entering the 2026 season.
Clemson’s Bryant Wesco Jr. cracked the list, checking in at No. 10.
Of course, Wesco is coming off a scary injury that he suffered last season when he came down on his head in an October game against SMU. He was injured during a third-quarter punt return, in which he was flipped up in the air by an SMU defender and landed on his head. Though he got up and walked off the field, Wesco eventually left the game and was transported to a nearby hospital.
It was very serious. Wesco suffered a back injury, and though he was allowed to go home the next day, his season was over. Luckily for Wesco, there were no fractures.
Before 2026 spring ball began for Clemson, head coach Dabo Swinney said that Wesco looked “amazing” and would do everything but live scrimmage work in spring practice.
Wesco was on track for an all-conference-caliber season through six games in 2025 before suffering the season-ending injury in the seventh game of the year. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder caught 31 passes for 537 yards with a team-high six receiving touchdowns.
Here’s what CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford wrote about Wesco as one of the most lethal receivers in college football heading into the upcoming campaign:
“Wesco only played in six games for the Tigers last season after suffering a back injury against SMU in October, but his production levels were impressive, including a pair of two-touchdown outings. At full strength, Wesco’s a field-stretcher and gives first-year starting quarterback Christopher Vizzina two legitimate No. 1s on the outside paired with T.J. Moore. Clemson has previously utilized Wesco’s ability in space on crossers and within a new offense coached by Chad Morris, he should get plenty of targets. Quarterback play will determine the ceiling here for Wesco and Moore.”

Last season, Wesco became the fourth Clemson player in Swinney’s head coaching tenure to record at least six receiving touchdowns over the first six games of a season, joining DeAndre Hopkins, Deon Cain and Sammy Watkins. Wesco also became the fourth player in Clemson history to record 1,000 receiving yards in the first 15 games of a career alongside Watkins, Artavis Scott and Justyn Ross.
Additionally, despite his season-ending injury last year, Wesco became the first Clemson player to record at least 500 receiving yards and at least five touchdown catches in each of his freshman and sophomore seasons since Ross from 2018-19.
Wesco will enter the 2026 season having recorded 72 receptions for 1,245 yards and 11 touchdowns over 19 career games (18 starts).
He was a freshman All-American in 2024 when he was half of Clemson’s freshman wide receiver duo alongside Moore that made the Tigers the first power conference team since at least 2000 to have multiple freshmen reach 650-plus receiving yards and five or more touchdown catches in a single season.
Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith is No. 1 on the CBS Sports list of most lethal receivers, ahead of Miami’s Malachi Toney at No. 2. Florida State’s Duce Robinson is No. 4.
Clemson will host Toney and the Hurricanes at Memorial Stadium on Oct. 3, while the Tigers will travel to play Robinson and the Seminoles in Tallahassee on Oct. 31.
