In-State TE Sets Next Visit, Calls Clemson ‘Dream’ School

One local tight end will be returning to Clemson this weekend.

Three-star in-state talent Riggs Savage (Powdersville) will be on hand for the Underclass Experience on Saturday. The 2028 tight end just attended a spring practice after the team returned from spring break. He also worked out at camp in the past and was on hand for the Syracuse game last season.

However, this next visit will be a little different, and Savage is ready for it.

“I’m most looking forward to the personal time with me and coaches, as it’s a low-number group of prospects that coaches are really high on,” Savage told The Clemson Insider.

Savage is starting to see his recruitment take off. Louisville and North Carolina both offered in the past week, to go along with offers from UCF, Samford, South Florida, App State, ETSU and Miami of Ohio.

While the Tigers won’t start offering recruits in the 2028 class until June, Savage fully respects the process in place.

“They really, really make sure they offer the right kids,” Savage said. “They do this by not offering young and building a personal connection with the kids before ultimately offering them. This, I believe, really puts them ahead in the recruiting game.”

In fact, Savage is planning to camp at Clemson again this summer. Having grown up in the area, and seeing as his father is an alum, that’s the offer he really wants, and he is willing to put in the work to earn it.

“It would be my dream,” Savage added. “As a kid growing up about 30 mins away, it would be my dream offer and mean a ton. Because they don’t just throw offers around.”
