Domonic Williams is really looking forward to his first visit to Clemson.
The 2028 cornerback (Jacksonville, NC) will make his initial visit to the Upstate on Saturday for the Spring Elite Day, and he’s anxious to get a feel for the Clemson culture he’s heard so much about.
“I have heard the culture, the faith and family is really good,” Williams told The Clemson Insider. “That is one thing I am big on. It is always family first for me so that is one thing I want to see.”
It’s a visit that came about quickly, as the Clemson coaching staff reached out to Williams’ high school coach a little more than a week ago in an effort to set it up.
While he was a little surprised to find out the Tigers were showing some interest, he fully believes in his skill set and is confident his abilities would fit at most any school.
“Only a little bit,” Williams added. “It’s been one of my top schools. I have always talked about that with my family. I was a little surprised, but I am ready to go.”
Williams is also ready to learn about the recruiting process. While he knows Clemson goes about it a little differently, he’s looking forward to getting the specifics.
“I have heard it is kind of hard,” Williams said. “You have to have a really nice relationship with them. I don’t think it matters that much. It’s just the relationships with them.”
NC State, Charlotte, East Carolina and North Carolina A&T all got spring visits. He is scheduled to visit North Carolina this week before heading to Clemson this weekend. The Wolfpack and Pirates have both offered the 6-foot-1 defensive back, as have Ole Miss and Wake Forest.
Clemson won’t start offering kids in the 2028 class until the summer, and Williams said he’s more than willing to work out at camp in June if that is what it takes to add one from Clemson.
“It would mean a lot,” Williams said. “They would definitely shoot right to the top of my list. It is close to home. The coaches are really good.”
