Clemson Hosting Two Outstanding Portal Targets

Portal season is in full effect.

Brad Brownell has proven to be a master navigator of the portal over the last few years, and once again he plans to use it to put the finishing touches on next year’s roster.

The Clemson Insider has confirmed that Brownell is hosting two portal targets this weekend, and both would be big gets for the head coach. Brownell had dinner with both Friday night.

Notre Dame transfer Cole Certa is on campus. He has spent his first two seasons with the Fighting Irish. The sophomore guard appeared in all 32 games last season and averaged 12.8 points per game. He hit the double-digit scoring mark in each of the last nine games of the season. He shot 37% from beyond the arc and 89% from the charity stripe.

Samford transfer Dylan Faulkner is also on campus. Faulkner spent his first two seasons at Lipscomb before spending one at Samford.

The 6-foot-9 big man averaged 17.2 points and 8.6 boards this past season and was first-team All-So-Con.

With RJ Godfrey and Nick Davidson both out of eligibility, and Carter Welling’s timeline for a return from an ACL tear unclear at this point, landing Faulkner would fill a need.

Landing a proven scorer like Certa would also fill another need. Having an experienced player like Certa to go along with underclassmen Zac Foster, Ace Buckner and Harris Reynolds could pay big dividends. Not to mention, the Tigers lacked that kind of go-to scorer on the perimeter this past season.
