Veteran Gets Start In Final Midweek Home Game

Clemson will play its final midweek home game of the season on Tuesday when the Tigers welcome USC-Upstate to town.

This marks the first of two midweek games the teams will play over the next few weeks. The second will be played on May 12 in Spartanburg.

Talan Bell will get the nod for Clemson. The left-hander will be making his fifth start of the season. In 19.1 innings, Bell has an ERA of 9.78. He has struck out 16, walked 10 and hit seven batters.

Right-hander Reece Hemmerling makes his fourth start for the Spartans. He comes in with an ERA of 3.48 in 20.2 innings pitched. He’s struck out 23, while issuing just seven walks.

The Tigers dropped two out of three at Virginia over the weekend, and currently sit at No. 39 in the RPI, despite having a 6-12 mark in ACC play.

Upstate was swept at Winthrop last weekend and comes in having lost five straight games. The Spartans are No. 82 in the RPI.

• Henry Zenor is hitting .330 with 33 RBIs, Tyler Lang is batting .326 with 36 RBIs and Wylie Waters is hitting .312 with 25 RBIs.
