Clemson Set to Miss On Another Recruiting Target?

While the writing has been on the wall for weeks, it’s now official. Clemson is going to miss on another tight end target.

Four-star Jaxon Dollar announced on Sunday that he will reveal his college decision on Thursday, and he will choose between Notre Dame, Miami and Georgia. Clemson and Texas round out his top five, but he will choose from the Fighting Irish, Hurricanes and Bulldogs.

Dollar picked up one of Clemson’s opening offers last summer and was last on campus for the Elite Retreat last month. However, the 6-foot-5 prospect, who is considered the second-best tight end in the class per Rivals, has been trending in the opposite direction for some time now.

As a junior, Dollar caught 54 passes for 1,190 yards with 20 touchdowns.

This would mark the third tight end the Tigers have missed on in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Four-star Grant Haviland, who also picked up one of the opening offers, recently committed to Vanderbilt. Three-star Tommy Douglas, who Clemson offered in early March, also committed recently, announcing a verbal pledge to Florida.

The staff has responded by handing out two new offers. One went out to three-star Carter Blackwell, who is scheduled to be on hand for the big official visit weekend, May 29-31. The other went to three-star Mason Hall.

Fortunately for the Tigers, tight end isn’t some massive need in the current class. Position coach Kyle Richardson has done a really good job of keeping the room full of quality players. While Olsen Patt-Henry is entering his final year, Christian Bentancur and Logan Brooking both have multiple years left, and Tayveon Wilson is set to enroll in the summer. Charlie Johnson also made some noise in the spring.
