Former NFL Star ‘Excited’ for Son’s Clemson Visit

A former NFL star — who just so happens to be the father of an upcoming Clemson visitor –is excited for his son’s trip to Tigertown.

As The Clemson Insider recently reported, three-star wide receiver Julian Cromartie will be making an official visit to Clemson during the Tigers’ big official visit weekend, May 29-31.

Julian is the son of former NFL All-Pro cornerback Antonio Cromartie, and on Monday, Antonio took to social media with the following comment about Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and Julian’s scheduled visit:

“Excited for my son’s visit to @ClemsonFB at the end of the month. Coach Swinney recruited me my brother and now my son @JulianCromartie. Pretty cool to see he hasn’t changed since we first [met].”

Antonio played at Florida State from 2003-05 before going on to be selected by the San Diego Chargers in the first round (19th overall pick) of the 2006 NFL Draft.

The four-time Pro Bowler and 2007 first-team All-Pro also played for the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts over his 11-yard NFL career, totaling 417 tackles, 117 passes defended and 31 interceptions (including three returned for touchdowns) across 162 career games.

Julian doesn’t yet hold an offer from Clemson, but the 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect has over two dozen offers in total, including schools such as Ole Miss, Texas, Texas Tech, Michigan, Georgia and Florida State.

Julian transferred to College Park in Texas before his junior season after spending his first two years at Mater Dei, San Diego.
