Clemson Official Visit Weekend Primer

Clemson is set to host the first of two official visit gatherings this weekend.

The Tigers will host numerous prospects on campus Friday through Sunday, with a second smaller event set for June 12-14.

The program is already carrying a ton of momentum into the weekend, having picked up five commitments since the beginning of last week. Safety Jarrell Chandler, running back Gary Walker, offensive lineman Carter Jones and receiver Jamarin Simmons all announced verbal pledges, as did three-star tight end Carter Blackwell. All five are scheduled to be on campus this weekend, with most of the other current commits. Four-star quarterback commit Kharim Hughley is slated to take part in the Elite 11 finals this weekend.

Even with the current momentum, the Tigers still have more needs in the class. Here are some of the names The Clemson Insider has confirmed that are expected to be on hand.

  • 4-star OL Nate Carson
  • 4-star OL Luke Starcevic
  • 4-star OL Elijah Morrison
  • 4-star OL JJ Brown
  • 3-star WR Julian Cromartie
  • 4-star DE Santana Harvey
  • 4-star DE Cahron Wheeler
  • 3-star DE JiQuan Rogers
  • 4-star DE Justin Weeks
  • 4-star DE Desmond Malpress
  • 3-star DE Elijah Cox
  • 4-star LB Roman Igwebuike
  • 4-star LB Sean Fox
  • 4-star S Ta’Shawn Poole
  • 3-star Seth Williams
  • 4-star CB Jayden Apricio-Bailey
  • 3-star CB Bryant Robinson
  • TE Nicholas Pollack

Three-star wideout Julian Cromartie is the only receiver set to be in attendance. With Simmons committing last week, Clemson now has two players at the position on board in the class, and are expected to take just one more. With Cromartie trending heavily towards the Tigers, there were two other receivers who were supposed to attend that have been scratched from the guest list. Four-star Tae Walden and four-star Lawrence Britt will both be headed elsewhere now. Four-star Taurean Rawlins, who was supposed to attend the second gathering June 12-14, has also been scratched.

Four-star offensive lineman Reed Ramsier has cancelled plans to visit this weekend. The blue-chip talent revealed on Thursday that Auburn and Texas are his finalists. Landing Ramsier was a long shot either way. After signing six linemen in the last recruiting cycle, expect the staff to take up to two or three more to go along with Jones.

Four-star DE Santana Harvey told TCI this week that Clemson was leading for him heading into his official visits. Florida State, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech are the other schools Harvey plans to visit this month. The plan currently is to announce a decision after those visits.

Other players that the Tigers are in a good position with are three-star corner Bryant Robinson, four-star offensive lineman Elijah Morrison, four-star offensive lineman Luke Starcevic, three-star edge JiQuan Rogers and tight end Nicholas Pollack. Four-star corner Jayden Apricio-Bailey is another one Clemson can potentially win.

UPDATE: Four-star Elijah Morrison committed to Clemson on Thursday evening. He becomes the sixth player to commit since Monday of last week, and the second offensive lineman to join the class.
