Clemson Commit Continues to Shine at Elite 11

Clemson commit Kharim Hughley continues to do good work during the Elite 11 finals being held this weekend in Los Angeles.

The four-star quarterback, out of Gainesville (GA), was one of several passers to hit on 17-of-20 throws during the Pro Day session of the event, with Rivals ranking him No. 9 on Day 2.

Only three others connected on more passes than Hughley, including four-star LSU commit Peyton Houston, who was 19-of-20. Houston was one of four 2027 signal callers the Tigers offered. Virginia Tech commit Peter Borque also completed 19-of-20 and would beat out Houston in a “throw-off.”

“Hughley wasn’t always on the bullseye, but he got better as the gauntlet went, and he throws a really nice ball. Did have some misses along the way,” Adam Gorney of Rivals wrote.

Hughley was also one of the top performers of Day 1, with Rivals ranking him No. 4 out of the 20 quarterbacks competing.

“Kharim Hughley had one of the strongest arms in the camp, and the ball really jumped out of his hand. It was noticeable, after several throws, you would see onlookers and even other quarterbacks looking at each other with a ‘what was that’ kind of look. He’s a sub-6-foot quarterback but has a stocky 205-pound frame and was comfortable throwing to every level of the field. He can get it out quickly from different arm angles and still generate a lot of velocity. It was my first live exposure seeing him, and Clemson fans should be very excited about what Hughley brings to the program,” said Charles Power of Rivals after day one.

Hughley committed to Clemson last July, about a week after picking up his offer. While most of the current commits are on campus this weekend for official visits, he will take his during the second, smaller gathering being held June 12-14.

As a junior, the quarterback helped guide his high school team to an appearance in the 5A state title game. While they fell short of winning it all, Hughley was a big part of the success that led to a 12-win season, throwing for 2,456 yards with 33 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed for 379 yards with eight more scores via his legs.

Rivals ranks Hughley No. 137 overall and No. 12 among all quarterbacks in the class. ESPN slots him No. 124 overall and No. 5 among dual-threat quarterbacks.
