Texas Lineman Has Unique Interest In Clemson

CLEMSON — Sean Sherman has always pulled for Clemson from afar. The national title the Tigers won in 2016 was one of the things that drew him in, but there was something else that really sealed the deal.

After Dabo Swinney’s first national championship, the 2028 three-star offensive lineman, out of Anna, TX, learned about the Clemson Life program, and for a very personal reason, that was something that really resonated.

“My older brother has Down syndrome, and when I heard about the Clemson Life program, I really wanted to do that with my older brother,” Sherman told The Clemson Insider. “Once they won the national championship, I heard about that, and that is one reason why I have always wanted to go there. And they are really good at football. Education they are good. Then the Life program. Those are the big three for me. Also, my grandpa lives in South Carolina, and he really wanted me to come here for a camp, so I came down, and it was amazing.”

Sherman made his first-ever visit to campus on Tuesday, working out at both the morning and afternoon sessions of the Swinney High School camp, and the experience was every bit as good as the 6-foot-4, 330-pounder had expected.

“I loved it, I loved it so much,” Sherman said. “Clemson has been one of my top schools, like one of my favorite schools I have wanted to go to ever since I was a little kid. It was just a surreal moment.”

After his workout, Sherman got the tour with offensive line coach Matt Luke and assistant Carson Cramer. The entire experience gave him a really good first impression of Luke.

“Working with him was amazing,” Sherman said. “He is very fiery. He worked with me a lot. He is very encouraging, and he will tell you when you do it wrong and coach you on how to do it right. He is a really good coach, and I really enjoyed practicing with him.”

So far, Clemson has offered just two players in the 2028 class, and both of those went out the day before camp started. Once all of the sessions of camp have wrapped up this weekend, that is when Luke will decide who gets the first batch of 2028 offers for offensive linemen.

“He said that he is going to pick the offered guys later this week after he has seen everybody,” Sherman said. “So, right now, I don’t know, but crossing my fingers because this is one of my dream schools.”

Sherman went and camped at Tennessee on Wednesday, and he left Knoxville with an offer in tow. Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, North Carolina and Baylor are just a few of his more than 20 offers.

With his affinity for Clemson and everything it has to offer, Sherman is hoping at some point in the near future, he’s able to add an offer from the Tigers to his ever-growing list.

“They don’t take everybody,” Sherman said. “Coach Luke says they take the ‘and guys’ and not the ‘but guys,’ so it would mean everything. I would be so blessed, and this would be one of my favorite schools, so it would mean the world to me.”
