Clemson Lands Big Portal Commitment

CLEMSON — Erik Bakich has landed one of Clemson’s top portal targets.

Toledo transfer Troy Sudbrook has committed to the Tigers. He will have one season of eligibility left.

Sudbrook just visited Clemson last week, with Bakich taking him over to the indoor facility during a session of camp to introduce him to head football coach Dabo Swinney. Assistants Nick Schnabel and Griffin Mazur were also present.

While he is making the jump up from a mid-major, Subrook had an extremely productive 2026 campaign and gives the team something it lacked this past season. His 32 doubles were tops in the NCAA, while nobody hit more than 14 for the Tigers last season. He also fills a need at third base, where Clemson got very little production at the plate.

The left-handed hitter started all 60 games for the Rockets last season, hitting .373 with 11 homers and 71 RBI. He scored 65 runs, had a slugging percentage of .665 and stole 13 bases.

For his career, Sudbrook is a .305 hitter with 21 home runs and 139 runs driven in.

Sudbrook becomes the fourth portal addition since the current window opened.

Edwards was named to the 2026 Sun Belt All-Freshman Team after finishing his first college season with a .287 average and .381 on-base percentage, to go with three home runs, six doubles, 16 RBI, 31 runs scored and nine stolen bases.
