Dabo Swinney drew praise from a fellow college football head coach this week.
Clemson’s longtime head man visited Boise State on Wednesday and spent time with Broncos head coach Spencer Danielson.
Danielson posted a picture on social media of him and Swinney together on Boise State’s iconic blue turf at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho.
In the social media post, Danielson was complimentary of Swinney.
“Fired up to have my man Coach Dabo Swinney on the Blue today!” Danielson wrote.
“Elite human being and mentor!”
Danielson is entering his fourth season (and third full season) as Boise State’s head coach in 2026. He has led the Broncos to three consecutive Mountain West Championships to become the second FBS coach to win three straight conference championships in their first three seasons (Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma, 2017-19).
Danielson, the former Boise State defensive coordinator, followed up his three-week stint as Boise State’s interim head coach in 2023 with a 2024 season in which he led the nationally ranked Broncos to the program’s first College Football Playoff appearance and back-to-back Mountain West championships for a program-first. He was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year after leading the team to a 12-win season – their most wins in a single season since 2019.
Boise State is transitioning from the Mountain West to the newly rebuilt Pac-12 Conference this year.
Swinney has a career head coaching record of 187-53. He is Clemson’s all-time winningest coach and the winningest coach in ACC history. The Tigers have won nine ACC titles under Swinney, including eight in the last 11 seasons, while he has guided Clemson to seven College Football Playoff appearances, including a remarkable run of six straight playoff appearances from 2015-20.
Swinney’s four national championship game appearances are more than any other active coach, and Swinney and Georgia’s Kirby Smart are the only active coaches with multiple national titles. In 13 of the last 15 years, Swinney’s Clemson program has won 10-plus games.
