Clemson softball has landed a substantial portal piece.
College of Charleston transfer pitcher Mackenzie Mathis has committed to the Tigers.
“Ready for this next chapter,” Mathis posted to social media. “See you soon Tiger Town.”
The rising junior right-handed hurler went 16-9 with the Cougars last season with an ERA of 3.35. She made 33 appearances, with 24 of those being starts, and threw 13 complete games. Mathis struck out 137 while walking just 35. She was named the CAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
One of her complete games came against Clemson in the Athens Regional. She allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out three and walking two.
