Over the past several weeks, Dabo Swinney has proven he is still a force to be reckoned with on the recruiting trail.
Clemson has reeled in commitments from 15 different recruits since the middle of May, with more than a few of those being head-to-head wins over some other big boy football programs. For example, the Tigers went into Georgia and beat out the Dawgs for four-star OL JJ Brown, who is one of eight commitments that hail from the Peach State.
Swinney is also on the precipice of beating out Kirby Smart for as many as three more high-profile recruits. Several predictions have rolled in this week for Clemson to land four-star in-state DT Seth Tillman after his official visit over the weekend. Georgia has been seen as the biggest competition throughout, with Michigan also making a late push. Tillman doesn’t announce until July 11, but after speaking with a source on Tuesday, I believe the Tigers are in prime position to finish this one off.
Three-star in-state prospect Jaden Wuerth is currently the only DT committed in the class. While I am of the opinion that Wuerth is severely underrated and that he is going to develop into a really good player, adding Tillman hits a little different. Not just because he’s ranked No. 116 overall, but due to who you are beating out to land him. It’s hard enough to beat the Dawgs head-to-head for one guy these days, but to do it multiple times says something. Especially when you factor in the Tigers are coming off such a disappointing 2025 season.
The good news does not stop there. Four-star CB Jayden Aparicio-Bailey, who is set to announce on June 27, is also trending heavily towards Clemson. Like Tillman, several predictions have come in for Clemson this week. In speaking with multiple sources, I also feel really good about the chances of Aparicio-Bailey joining the class. And once again, this battle has come down to Clemson and Georgia.
Four-star Bryant Robinson and three-star legacy Christian Chancellor are the two corners currently on board in the class. Like Wuerth, Robinson is underrated by the services. At 6-foot-3, he gives Mike Reed a lot of length at the position. Adding Aparicio-Bailey would give Reed another corner with similar length, seeing as he’s 6-foot-2.
Another Clemson-Georgia battle rages on with four-star safety Seth Williams, who is set to reveal his decision on July 3. Williams made a surprise appearance on this week’s Monday LIVE podcast and had a lot of high praise for the Tigers, once again referring to Clemson as his “dream school.”
However, despite that, I am not quite as confident here. To be clear, I’m not saying Georgia is going to be the choice, just that this one is a little harder to read. Williams has maintained that this one is extremely close, and that appears to be the case behind the scenes.
At the end of the day, if Clemson can win the two battles against Georgia that they are favored to win at this point, that would be an excellent way to finish off the summer. A class that 247 currently ranks inside the Top 10 nationally. Winning all three? After the way the last couple of classes have panned out, it’s hard to find a worthy word to describe the kind of finish that would be.
Not to mention, the Tigers are also trending with three-star LB RJ Hudson, who took an official visit to campus last weekend. Ever since he picked up his offer on June 6, I’ve felt really strongly about his chances of joining the class. He took an official to Maryland the weekend of June 4 and was supposed to be at Syracuse last weekend, but ended up scratching that trip so he could make it to Clemson. He announces on Friday.
