Higgins Breaks Out ‘Sexy Dexy’ in Bananas Appearance

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver and former Clemson star Tee Higgins made a surprise appearance for the Savannah Bananas, the wildly popular barnstorming baseball sensation.

During their June 19 game against the Indianapolis Clowns at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Higgins entered as a pinch-runner, wearing the full Bananas yellow uniform.

Higgins scored a run for the Bananas, and as soon as he did, he broke out a familiar celebration, paying tribute to a former Clemson and new Bengals teammate.

After touching home plate, Higgins busted out Dexter Lawrence’s signature dance known as the “Sexy Dexy”.

“He’s new in town. It was only right to do it,” Higgins said of doing the “Sexy Dexy” in honor of Lawrence, via CBS Cincinnati.

Lawrence, the two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle, was traded from the New York Giants to the Bengals this offseason, joining Higgins, a 2025 Pro Bowler who is entering his seventh season with Cincinnati after being selected by the franchise in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Lawrence, a 2019 first-round pick of the Giants (17th overall), and Higgins played together at Clemson for two seasons from 2017-18, and won a national championship together when the Tigers defeated Alabama at the end of the 2018 campaign.

As for Higgins, he admitted that taking the field in his Bananas debut initially made him more nervous than a typical NFL game.

“It was fun. I ain’t gonna lie, at first, I was a little more nervous than I was for a football game. I ain’t gonna lie,” Higgins said.

When introduced as a pinch-runner, Higgins was greeted with a loud ovation and “Teeeeee!” chants from the crowd, similar to what he hears at his home Bengals games at Paycor Stadium.

“It was a little different,” Higgins said. “I had never heard it in a baseball stadium. It was pretty loud, but it doesn’t compare to Paycor.”
