Commitment Watch: Decision Day Looms for Blue-Chip Target

This weekend, Clemson has a chance at adding another crucial piece to what is already a solid 2027 recruiting class.

Four-star corner target Jayden Aparicio-Bailey is set to announce a decision on Saturday, with Clemson and Georgia being the two finalists. Those are the only two schools that received official visits, as Aparicio-Bailey eventually scratched plans to make stops at Auburn and South Carolina.

The 6-foot-2 defensive back has long been on Clemson’s radar, picking up one of the Tigers’ opening offers last June. He worked out at camp last summer, returned for the season-opener last year against LSU, then attended the Elite Retreat in March. His last appearance was for the big official visit weekend at the end of May.

Clemson has already gone into Georgia and beaten the Dawgs head-to-head for four-star offensive lineman JJ Brown. Is Dabo Swinney on the precipice of beating out Kirby Smart yet again?

Swinney is already proving he still swings a pretty big stick on the trail with some of the recruiting wins over the past several weeks. Beating out Smart again for another high-profile would only reinforce that notion.

Clemson has secured 16 verbal pledges since the middle of May, with most being tabbed as four-star talents by at least one recruiting service. One is ranked as a five-star, with 247 giving wideout Jamarin Simmons the bump in its latest update. The 23-member class currently ranks No. 11 nationally.

Winning out on Aparicio-Bailey likely puts the Tigers back into the Top 10, at least for the time being. More importantly, with him being ranked as high as No. 117 overall, Aparicio-Bailey would become one of the highest-ranked players in the class.

Again, the blue-chip talent is set to reveal his college destination on Saturday, and after speaking with multiple sources over the past few days, it’s sounding like the Tigers are in a really good spot as we inch closer to the decision date.
