Erik Bakich and the Clemson baseball program landed a major transfer portal commitment on Thursday.
Former Southern Cal catcher Isaac Cadena has announced his commitment to the Tigers.
As a junior with the Trojans in 2026, over 63 games and 61 starts, Cadena hit .294 with eight home runs and 36 RBI. He added 16 doubles, the second most on the team, and finished second on the team with 40 walks while also ranking second on the team with a .425 on-base percentage. He posted a .505 slugging percentage and a .930 OPS, and showed off strong defensive skills behind the plate as well.
The 5-foot-10, 215-pounder from Placentia, Calif, spent the first year of his college career at Ohio State in 2024 before transferring to TCU for the 2025 season.
In 56 games (54 starts) at TCU, he totaled 48 hits on the year and scored 41 runs with four doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 34 RBIs. With the Buckeyes a year earlier, he appeared in 30 games (20 starts), and he batted .253 with 13 doubles, three home runs, 23 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
Cadena was a three-year letterwinner at El Dorado High School, where he had a .373 batting average his senior year. He was his league’s Offensive Player of the Year and also earned a Gold Glove award and his team’s MVP award.
