4-Star QB Target Back In Clemson

One of Clemson’s top quarterback targets took a different kind of visit to campus over the weekend.

Four-star signal caller Trace Hawkins (Calhoun, GA) returned to Clemson on Friday, but it wasn’t your typical recruiting visit. Hawkins confirmed with The Clemson Insider that he was on hand in Memorial Stadium for the Morgan Wallen show.

Hawkins is currently just one of two quarterbacks in the 2028 class to hold an offer from the Tigers. He picked it up just over a week ago after an impressive workout at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp the first week of June.

The 6-foot signal caller first visited for the Duke game last season. He returned for the spring game and then was back for the spring elite day in April.

Duke, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Florida, Indiana, LSU and SMU represent some of Hawkins’ other offers.

As a sophomore last season, Hawkins threw for 2,442 yards with 24 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He also had three rushing touchdowns. Rivals ranks him as the 18th best quarterback in the class.

Rivals ranks him as the No. 18 quarterback in the 2028 class.
