Boulware Going Into Hall of Fame

A member of the Clemson coaching staff is being inducted into his alma mater’s Hall of Fame.

The TL Hanna Hall of Fame committee announced on Tuesday that Tigers’ linebackers coach Ben Boulware will be one of six inductees for its 2026 class. Boulware and the other members of the Hall of Fame class will be recognized on September 8 during a ceremony at the school and then receive their plaques later that night during TL Hanna’s home matchup against Mauldin.

“Ben was an all-state football player for the Yellow Jackets who was also a finalist for Mr. Football his senior year,” the school said in a press release. “He went on to an excellent career at Clemson where he was the leading tackler on the Tigers’ National Championship team. He was also a varsity baseball player who ranks near the top in all-time and single-season home runs for his career.”

After his high school career, Boulware would matriculate to Clemson, signing with the Tigers as a member of the 2013 recruiting class, where he became one of the most revered defenders in the history of the program. Boulware anchored the defense that helped lead Clemson to its first national title in 35 years in 2016, winning the Jack Lambert Award, which goes to the nation’s top linebacker, in the process. Boulware was also the Defensive MVP in that national title win over Alabama.

Boulware earned second-team All-America honors from the AFCA, Football Writers Association, Phil Steele, USA Today and Walter Camp and third-team All-American status from the Associated Press during that magical 2016 campaign.

During his four-year career, Boulware recorded 352 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, five interceptions, 41 quarterback pressures, 10 pass breakups, six forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

After several years away from football, Boulware returned to Clemson in 2024, joining Dabo Swinney’s staff as a volunteer assistant helping with the linebackers. One year later, he was promoted to linebackers coach, where he is about to enter his second season as a key member of the staff.
