Where Vizzina Sits In National Analyst ACC QB Rankings

Where does Clemson’s Chris Vizzina rank among the ACC’s other quarterbacks?

On3 analyst Andy Staples recently ranked the Top 10 quarterbacks in the conference, with Vizzina coming in at No. 9.

“Christopher Vizzina waited his turn at Clemson behind Cade Klubnik, and based on what Dabo Swinney said throughout the spring, the Alabama native should be the Tigers’ opening-day starter,” Staples wrote.

“The sample size with Vizzina is small, but he did throw for 317 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions while replacing an injured Klubnik in a 35-24 loss to SMU last season.

“Vizzina is currently holding off freshman Tait Reynolds, but Vizzina likely will have to play well early — Clemson opens at LSU — to ensure he keeps the job. Cole Stoudt and Kelly Bryant will attest that Swinney will go to a talented freshman if necessary.”

Vizzina came out of the spring in the “pole position,” according to Swinney, despite being in a battle with true freshman Tait Reynolds. A battle that is expected to continue into fall camp.

Over his first three seasons, most of Vizzina’s time has come in mop-up duty, outside of one start he made against SMU last season in place of an injured Klubnik. Vizzina threw for 317 yards against the Mustangs with three touchdowns.

For his career, Vizzina is 64-of-105 for 596 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.
