Transfer QB Among Additions to 2026 Roster

Clemson has added several transfers to the 2026 football roster, including a signal-caller.

With the new five-for-five eligibility rules recently passed, the school is no longer listing players as freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors. Instead, each player is listed by which year he is entering.

Despite the new 105-man limit, Clemson currently has 122 players listed on the roster due to some walk-ons (designated student-athletes) who have been grandfathered in. 97 of those players are listed among the 105, while the other 25 are designated student-athletes.

Quarterback Colson Brown (year 4) has transferred in after spending the 2024 season at Anderson. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder will wear No. 9, and he is a member of the 105-man roster.

Brown originally walked on at Georgia Tech in 2023, while also spending some time on the Yellow Jackets’ golf team that year. He transferred to Anderson for the 2024 campaign. Brown was a three-sport star in high school, playing football, soccer and golf at North Augusta.

Offensive lineman Danny Stein (year 2) has transferred in after spending the 2025 season at Furman. The 6-foot-3, 260-pounder played both guard and center while attending Lamar High School in Houston, Texas. He will wear No. 61 and is listed as a designated student-athlete.

Wide receiver Grady Sherrill (year 5) has transferred in after spending the 2025 season at South Dakota. Before that, the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder spent three seasons at North Carolina. He will wear No. 89 and is listed as a designated student-athlete.

Cornerback Davion Joyner (year 5) comes over after playing the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Limestone College. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder, who will wear No. 37, is listed on the 105-man roster.

Joyner hails from Fort Dorchester High School and is the cousin of former Gamecock Dakereon Joyner. He was an all-state selection who earned 2022 All-Lowcountry Male High School Athlete of the Year honors from the Post & Courier. Joyner was also named South Carolina’s most valuable player in the Carolina Bowl all-star game that year.

Long snapper J.R. Buckner (year 3) transfers in after spending the 2024 season at Auburn. He will wear No. 43.

Offensive lineman Carlito Jones (year 4) walked on ahead of the spring. He was a thrower for Clemson men’s track and field squad and collected five top-10 finishes in various throwing events in his two seasons. Jones is wearing No. 67, and went to high school at nearby Pendleton.

Linebacker J.D. Bonamy (year 1) and tight end Jack Wolf (year 2) are walk-ons that have been added to the roster, with both being listed on the 105. Wolf served as a practice player for the Clemson women’s basketball team this past season, and he will wear No. 44. Bonamy, who was a high school teammate of quarterback Brock Bradley at Spain Park in Alabama, will wear No. 44.
