A Clemson catcher has been taken in the MLB Draft.
Slugger Jacob Jarrell was selected in the eighth round by the Atlanta Braves with the No. 232 pick overall.
Jarrell spent four seasons with the Tigers, becoming the primary catcher over the past two seasons. He is a career .260 hitter with a .519 slugging percentage and .375 on-base percentage in 176 games (164 starts). He finished his career with 22 doubles, 44 homers, 133 RBI, 123 runs, 93 walks, 21 hit-by-pitches and a steal. Last season, he became the first Tiger since Seth Beer (2016-18) to lead Clemson in homers in back-to-back seasons.
Jarrell saved his best for last, leading Clemson with 18 homers, and he drove in 50 runs, earning second-team All-ACC honors. He was also on the Buster Posey Award Watch List. Jarrell hit .269 in 2026, with a .579 slugging percentage. His 35 walks were also a team-high. At one point during the season, he reached base in 30 straight games.
Jarrell has served as a team co-captain in each of the past three seasons.
