Clemson Southpaw Signs MLB Free Agent Deal

While Michael Sharman did not hear his name called during the MLB Draft, it did not take him long to land with a pro team.

Sharman has signed a free-agent deal with the Chicago White Sox.

After transferring in from Tennessee, the lefty became the Tigers’ most dependable starter in 2026, going 6-2 with a 3.39 ERA. In 77.0 innings pitched, he allowed 73 hits, a .243 opponents’ batting average, and 11 walks with 77 strikeouts. He was fifth in Tiger history in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.00) and seventh in walks per nine innings pitched (1.29).

Sharman’s best performance came early on when he pitched a complete-game shutout against the rival Gamecocks. He needed just 78 pitches to get through the nine innings.

Prior to his time at Clemson, Sharman spent one season with the Vols. Before that, he spent one season at Georgia Highlands College and one season at Parkland College, where he missed all of 2022 with an injury.

During his two seasons at the Power-4 level, he went 9-3 with a 3.34 ERA while allowing 92 hits, a .240 opponents’ batting average, and 21 walks with 102 strikeouts.
