Look out for this Clemson freshman during the upcoming season.

CBS Sports highlighted potential impact first-year players, naming ACC freshmen to watch in 2026.

“The question isn’t whether these signees will play; it’s which ones are ready to become difference-makers before November,” CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford wrote. “After speaking with sources across the conference, here’s a look at the freshmen who stood out during the spring and generated enough buzz to warrant attention entering the season.”

That freshman to watch for Clemson, Crawford says, is wide receiver Naeem Burroughs, who signed with the Tigers last December and enrolled in January.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder joined the Tigers as a consensus four-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to Rivals, 247Sports and ESPN. He was ranked as high as the No. 42 overall prospect in the country by Rivals, which touted him as the eighth-best receiver in his class.

“Dabo Swinney said earlier this year that he felt the Tigers’ collection of wideout talent in the 2026 cycle was similar to his 2011 haul, which included future All-ACC star Sammy Watkins,” Crawford wrote. “Clemson’s staff got a long look at Burroughs during the spring, who, like Watkins, hails from Florida and has notable speed and agility. There’s an opportunity for Burroughs in the slot since the featured threats will be returning playmakers T.J.  Moore and Bryant Wesco in a revised system under Chad Morris.”

A product of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla., Burroughs entered the early signing period with 163 career receptions for 3,614 yards and 49 touchdown receptions. He was also credited with 649 yards on kickoff returns, 301 yards on punt returns and 17 interception return yards for a career all-purpose yardage total of 4,590.

Burroughs exceeded 650 all-purpose yards in all four years of his high school career, including reaching the 1,110-yard mark in each of his last three seasons.

Burroughs, who was also a two-time track state champion in the 4×100 relay, committed to Clemson back on March 8, 2025.

Last September, ESPN pegged Burroughs as the Tigers’ most exciting recruit in the 2026 class. In February, he was also pegged as an instant impact recruit by On3/Rivals.

“Naeem is just a special football player,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said during spring practice. “He can do anything. He can play anywhere. Can really run. He’s a lot bigger than I thought he was. He’s really developed, lower body.”
