Clemson is a finalist for one of the top hoops prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.

Four-star Joshua Tyson, one of the nation’s top combo guards, included the Tigers in his top six schools list this week.

Xavier, Michigan State, Ohio State, Cincinnati and Virginia Tech are also finalists for Tyson, a rising senior at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is ranked as the No. 55 overall prospect in the 2027 class by both 247Sports and the 247Sports Composite, with 247Sports ranking him as the No. 10 combo guard in the country and the 247Sports Composite ranking him as the ninth-best combo guard nationally.

A native of West Chester, Ohio, Tyson says his relationship with assistant coach Andre Morgan, who joined Clemson’s staff from Cincinnati this offseason, is a big factor in the Tigers being a finalist.

“Coach Morgan was at UC before his new hire at Clemson and he’s been recruiting me for a long time,” Tyson said, via On3’s Joe Tipton. “Playing ACC hoops at a school like Clemson would be nice.”

In addition to his six finalists, Tyson lists offers from schools such as Arizona State, Penn State, West Virginia, Akron, Dayton, Kent State and New Mexico.

Playing for Phenom United on the 17U 3SSB circuit this summer, Tyson averaged 14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
