CLEMSON — Clemson Assistant Head Coach Nick Schnabel is stepping down to pursue other interests after serving as the Tigers’ hitting coach, infielders coach and recruiting coordinator since the 2023 season.

“I want to thank every player for their hard work and the memories we’ll always share,” said Schnabel. “I also want to thank my fellow coaches and the administration for the opportunity to be a part of this program, and to our fans, thank you for your passion. I will always be grateful for my time at Clemson.”

In four seasons at Clemson, Schnabel (pronounced SHNAHB-ull) helped the Tigers to 164 victories, an average of 41 per season. He also coached the Tigers to a regional host season in 2023, 2024 and 2025, one of only two schools in the nation that could make that claim. Clemson won the 2023 ACC championship as well.

Schnabel served on Head Coach Erik Bakich’s staff at Michigan from 2013-22 and played alongside Bakich at East Carolina in 1999 and 2000 under late Head Coach Keith LeClair.

“For 23 years, Nick Schnabel has poured himself into college baseball with a work ethic that has never wavered and a standard that has lifted everyone around him,” said Bakich. “Over the 14 years we worked side by side at Michigan and Clemson, his fingerprints are on every player, every win and every championship.

“There isn’t a harder worker or a more selfless teammate in this profession. The game is better because of him, and so am I. We love him, we thank him and we can’t wait to see the positive impact his new consulting business has helping players and families navigate the recruiting process.”
