David Eziomume has been patiently biding his time at Clemson.

Over his first two seasons with the Tigers, Eziomume has seen sporadic action, carrying the ball 26 times for 133 yards.

Entering year three, Eziomume is still trying to find his way in a running back room that features Gideon Davidson and Chris Johnson Jr. at the top of the depth chart. Eziomume is basically battling it out with Jarvis Green and Jay Haynes to be RB3.

At the same time, Eziomume likes the make-up of the room overall and believes the Clemson running game should be much-improved during the coming season.

“Maybe people don’t know us, but I don’t really look at the outside noise,” Eziomume said. “It is really what we have got inside the room. We’re all going to get the job done when the time comes.”

With Haynes missing some time in fall camp due to being banged up, Eziomume could be primed to have more of a role this season, and that is something he’s been preparing for all offseason.

“Let’s not make the same mistakes as last year,” Eziomume added. “We came off a season like that and I feel like we have just all grown from that, as well as me. Just understanding more.”

Eziomume was a four-star prospect, hailing from North Cobb High School in Georgia. The 6-foot, 215-pound back was ranked as high as the fifth-best running back in the 2024 recruiting class. Having posted a 10.84 100-meter dash in his high school days,

Eziomume is one of several backs in that room who possesses the capability of taking one to the house any time he touches the ball. What he’s been focused on is fine-tuning the details, which should help make him a more complete back.

“I just want to grow as a player,” Eziomume said. “Just the small things. The footwork. The details really. You just got to improve as a player every year. You can not be the same guy as last year or you get the same results. You got to do something different.”
