The latest court battle between LSU, the NCAA and the SEC goes to the Bayou Bengals.

A judge in Louisiana has granted an injunction against the NCAA and the SEC, paving the way for tight end Dae’Quan Wright and defensive lineman Zxavian Harris to play for LSU, despite both having spent time on NFL rosters during the preseason.

Due to the NCAA’s five-day acclimation period, Harris wouldn’t be eligible to play in Saturday’s game against Clemson, but according to LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, Wright began practicing last week and would be eligible to play in the opener.

Wright went undrafted in April, but signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on May 1. He was released by the Eagles on Aug. 10 and picked up on waivers by Cleveland the next day. The Browns ultimately waived him.

While head coach at Ole Miss, Kiffin signed Wright out of the transfer portal following the 2023 season. In two years with the Rebels, he caught 66 passes for 1,029 yards and nine touchdowns.

After not being taken in the 2026 draft, Harris signed with New Orleans, but he was cut early in camp.

Harris started all 15 games at Ole Miss last season and at 6-foot-8 and 335 pounds, he adds some serious size to the interior of the LSU defensive line. Last year, Harris recorded 58 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, three sacks, a blocked kick, an interception and four passes defended.

Kiffin and LSU are reportedly targeting more former NFL players, including ex-Utah and Denver Broncos cornerback Blake Cotton. However, like Harris, Cotton would not be able to suit up against Clemson even if Kiffin were to sign him.

However, this battle is far from over as the SEC is expected to appeal. The conference also filed suit against Kiffin and LSU in the state of Alabama earlier on Thursday.

Clemson will open the season on Saturday against 11th-ranked LSU in Baton Rouge. ABC will have the broadcast beginning at 7:30 p.m.
