Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided the latest update on his team’s quarterback situation ahead of Saturday’s home opener vs. Georgia Southern.

On Wednesday evening, Swinney commented on what he’s seen out of his QBs so far throughout the week of practice.

“Just working each day on getting the plan down, and getting ready to try to go see if we can take a big step forward this week,” Swinney said during his final media availability before Saturday’s game.

Senior Christopher Vizzina and true freshman Tait Reynolds are listed as co-starters at QB on Clemson’s depth chart for the Georgia Southern game.

Vizzina got the start in last Saturday’s 51-10, season-opening loss at LSU and played until deep into the first half, before Reynolds was inserted. Vizzina then returned in the fourth quarter.

 Vizzina went 10-of-16 passing for 83 yards and threw a pick-six late in the first quarter. In the first half, he went 6-of-11 passing for 51 yards. Reynolds, meanwhile, attempted six passes on the night and completed four of them for 22 yards.

Swinney has not said which of those two QBs will run out first on Saturday, but Swinney was asked Wednesday evening if the Clemson team knows internally who’s going to start at QB vs. Georgia Southern and if that’s been decided yet.

Swinney declined to answer that specific question and only reiterated that both signal-callers will see the field Saturday.

“I’m not going to answer any of those things, other than just they’ll both play,” Swinney said. “The team ain’t worried about it. The team’s just trying to focus on what they’ve got to do. They’re going to play for whoever runs out there. They all know the situation, that the guys are competing. But they’ll both play.”

Saturday’s game at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on ACC Network.
