CLEMSON — The American Football Coaches Association announced today that Clemson running back Gideon Davidson has been named to the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his community service efforts locally, abroad and in the area of adoption support.

Davidson becomes the 11th member of the Clemson program all-time to earn an AFCA Good Works Team distinction, joining Robert Carswell (1999), Nick Eason (2000), Xavier Dye (2009), Deshaun Watson (2016), Sean Pollard (2018), Dabo Swinney (2019), Trevor Lawrence (2020), Darien Rencher (2021), Will Shipley (2023) and Adam Randall (2025). Clemson and Duke are tied for the national lead in Good Works Team selections since 2018 (seven each).

Born in Ghana, Davidson was adopted at age five and is now passionate about the opportunities afforded by adoption. On his 20th birthday this past spring, he launched “Gid’s Fundraiser” for Flourish Adoption Ministries in Greenville, S.C. He raised $12,375 and donated $5,000 of his own with the stated goal of reducing financial barriers for waiting families and providing ongoing care and support for birth mothers.

Davidson has also been part of numerous service projects as part of broader team initiatives. He participated in Clemson’s 2025 Habitat for Humanity build, contributed to Clemson’s annual Kicks, Cleats and Kids event for underserved local youth and participated in Clemson’s twice-annual post-practice county fairs with students from Clemson LIFE, a program that offers a collegiate experience for young men and women with intellectual disabilities. In his first semester on-campus in spring 2025, he also volunteered as part of Clemson Football and P.A.W. Journey’s international service trip to Positano, Italy.

Vote for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Recipient and Good Works Team Captain

For the third year, Allstate and the Wuerffel Foundation will award the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy to one of the team’s 11 FBS semifinalists during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 11. The recipient also serves as the Good Works Team captain. 

Fans can cast their vote through Nov. 3 at ESPN.com/Allstate. Candidates for The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy will be narrowed to three finalists, announced in November, and selected by a national voting committee of college football leaders, former players, coaches and members of the media.
