Clemson’s upcoming opponent, North Carolina, is now officially without its defensive coordinator for the rest of the season.

Steve Belichick, the son of head coach Bill Belichick, has resigned. He had been on medical leave since August 6 during an internal investigation at the school.

“The investigation determined that certain actions demonstrated a disregard for Carolina’s values and standards of conduct,” the school said in a statement. “The investigation also found that these actions were isolated in scope and not a systemic failure.”

Belichick is the second member of the Tar Heels staff to resign due to the investigation. General manager Mike Lombardi exited last month.

Multiple reports suggest Brian Belichick, the head coach’s youngest son, will call defensive plays on Sunday.

The news comes one day after it was revealed that two UNC players were facing legal issues. One of those players is freshman wideout CJ Sadler, who is listed out for this weekend’s game against the Tigers. Sadler caught three passes for 66 yards in last week’s win over East Tennessee State. He currently ranks fourth on the team with four receptions for 73 yards.
