The Clemson softball program picked up a big commitment this week.
Abbey Crockett, a top-50 national softball prospect in the class of 2028 from Gardendale, Alabama, has officially committed to the Tigers’ program.
Crockett, an infielder, announced the news on social media. She expressed her excitement to continue her academic and athletic careers at Clemson:
I am super excited to announce that I have committed to Clemson University to continue my academic and athletic career!
Without God, none of this would be possible. I am beyond grateful for every blessing, opportunity, and person He has placed in my life to help me reach this moment.
I want to give a huge thank you to my travel coaches, Coach Rock, Coach Jenny, Coach Britt, Coach Nel, Coach Jacob, and Coach Eric for believing in me, pushing me to be my best, and helping me grow not only as a player but as a person. Thank you to my school ball coaches, Coach K, Coach Brown, and Coach Chaney for all of your support, guidance, and encouragement throughout my journey.
To my parents, thank you for every sacrifice you have made, every mile traveled, every early morning and late night, and for always believing in me even when things got tough. I would not be where I am today without your unconditional love and support. And thank you Jenna and my Grandparents for always being by my side and cheering me on through every step of this journey.

Crockett is the No. 46 overall prospect in the country for her class, according to Softball America.
She plays for an elite travel ball team (Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 18U) and is a PGF National Champion.

Crockett has a plus arm and elite glove skills. She has soft hands, can play on the run, and range laterally. Most comfortable on the left side of the infield, she can handle shortstop with her arm strength and ability to move, while her explosiveness enhances her defense at third. Offensively, she is an explosive leadoff hitter from the left side who can slap and swing for power, making her difficult to keep off the bases.
