Who is the most impactful player in Clemson’s 2027 recruiting class?

ESPN says it’s an offensive lineman.

Four-star offensive tackle J.J. Brown was recently pegged by ESPN as Clemson’s most impactful recruit in the 2027 class.

While four-star quarterback Kharim Hughley is a big face of the class and is the Tigers’ highest-ranked commit per ESPN, Brown was singled out due to his potential to contribute right away at a position of need.

Brown, listed at 6-foot-5, 295 pounds, is ranked by ESPN as the No. 295 overall prospect in the country for the 2027 class and the No. 32 offensive tackle.

“Clemson was dominated up front against LSU in Week 1. Though it’s difficult to expect a true freshman offensive lineman to come in and start immediately, the Tigers’ offensive line is in need of reinforcements and is already working in some underclassmen,” ESPN’s Craig Haubert and Billy Tucker wrote.

“Brown, who plays for Parkview High School in Georgia, is Clemson’s highest-rated offensive line commit. He possesses a great frame and has the athleticism and feet to play on the edge. He’ll need to continue to blend his physical tools with more consistent technique, but Brown has plenty of upside and tenacity, and at the very least, should help raise the floor of the room.”

Brown committed to Clemson back on June 1 and is one of 25 commits in the Tigers’ 2027 class.

Clemson’s class features nine ESPN 300 pledges among 12 four-star commits and is currently ranked No. 14 nationally by ESPN.
