Clemson won its third straight game and stayed perfect in ACC play with a 24-10 victory over Cal on Friday night at Cal’s Memorial Stadium.

Sophomore running back Gideon Davidson ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries as the Tigers (3-1, 2-0 ACC) defeated the Golden Bears (2-2, 1-1), who were limited to just three offensive points.

Cornerback Elliot Washington II intercepted two passes from Cal quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, who completed 16 of 29 passes for just 119 yards.

In his first career road start, Clemson true freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds went 13 of 21 passing for 108 yards and added 28 yards on the ground.

Safeties Jerome Carter III and Corey Myrick and linebacker Sammy Brown led the Tigers defensively with eight tackles each. Linebacker Jeremiah Alexander, defensive end London Merritt and defensive tackle Champ Thompson combined to account for two sacks.

Bryant Wesco Jr. gave Clemson the lead for good with a 65-yard punt return touchdown late in the third quarter, the first punt return touchdown for the Tigers since their 2018 national championship season.
