CLEMSON — Clemson is hanging around with No. 4 Miami at halftime.

The Tigers trailed the fourth-ranked Hurricanes, 17-6, after two quarters of Saturday night’s matchup at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.

Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah connected with wide receiver Cooper Barkate on a tunnel screen for a 61-yard touchdown on Miami’s first offensive play of the game, then Mensah added a career-long 34-yard touchdown run, at the end of which he recovered his own fumble in the end zone, early in the second quarter to put his team up 17-3.

Clemson’s only points came on a pair of Nolan Hauser field goals (48 and 29 yards).

Miami piled up 222 total yards over the first two quarters, while Clemson had 191 yards in the first half, but none on the ground.
