Former Clemson star Deshaun Watson is feeling great right now — physically, mentally and spiritually — amid the hot streak he’s currently enjoying.
Following the Cleveland Browns’ 27–24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 of the NFL season, Watson stated that he is healthy and spiritually in a “great space.”
Watson’s comments came after leading a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter for the third consecutive week. The Browns are now 3–1 and sitting atop the AFC North.
After connecting on 24-of-33 passes for 268 yards with a touchdown and interception against Pittsburgh, Watson spoke about his physical and mental turnaround following a long road to recovery from multiple Achilles tendon tears that cut his 2024 season short and wiped out his 2025 campaign entirely.
“I’m healthy. My mental is straight. My emotions are super good. Spiritually, I’m in a great space,” Watson said.
“When you have all four wheels rolling and they’re on the right pace, you can be able to improve and show that you’re capable of being that special player and person you are.”
With wins over Tampa Bay, Carolina and Pittsburgh, Watson became the second Browns quarterback since the 1970 merger to lead a winning drive in the fourth quarter or overtime of three straight games, according to ESPN.
Watson has certainly come through in the clutch over the first month of the NFL campaign, solidifying his status as Cleveland’s starting quarterback after beating out Shedeur Sanders to win the team’s preseason quarterback competition.
Watson, 31, is in the final year of his fully guaranteed $230 million contract that he signed in March 2022 after being traded to Cleveland from the Houston Texans, with whom he was a three-time Pro Bowler.
In four games this season, Watson has completed 69.6 percent of his passes for 855 yards with six touchdown passes and two interceptions. He has also rushed for 127 yards on 31 carries.
Watson and the Browns will try to keep things rolling when they hit the road to face the New York Jets this Sunday in Week 5.
