Clemson Comments on PCSA Accusation

CLEMSON — Clemson University has been getting slammed in the last week since a report came out saying the University was one of four ACC schools that asked Congress to amend the Protect College Sports Act (PCSA), according to a report from an independent Florida State Website.

On Thursday, matters got worse from a public relations standpoint when a lobbyist for the PCSA told a Miami website that Miami, FSU, North Carolina and Clemson could quite possibly kill the bill by wanting to kill the expansion provision. They also suggested the four schools may create a private-equity backed super league if they can’t join the SEC or Big Ten.

On Friday, Clemson responded to the accusation by posting this statement below on social media.

In an article, written by Tomahawk Nation’s Jon Loesche last week, it indicates Clemson was one of those four schools asking for change to the bill’s realignment rules. After the bill was passed by the U.S. Senate two weeks ago, the leaders at Florida State, Miami, Clemson and North Carolina sent a letter to House leadership requesting changes to the bill’s realignment rules.

The Clemson Insider confirmed, through sourcing, last Saturday that Clemson University did sign the letter that was sent to the House. The four schools are clearly working as a group to have the language changed on this part of the bill. This potential amendment, however, could uphold the bill’s passage through the House and being signed into law.
