Lawrence Shines in Thrilling London Win

Former Clemson star Trevor Lawrence shined while putting together a strong performance in London on Sunday in Week 5 of the NFL season.

Lawrence completed 24 of 39 passes for a season-high 331 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 19-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in a thrilling, last-second finish at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Lawrence added 25 rushing yards on three carries.

Lawrence endured two first-half strip-sacks from Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter, but both fumbles were recovered by Jacksonville. Lawrence also threw a third-quarter interception, which didn’t hurt the Jaguars, either, as Philadelphia was forced to punt after the turnover.

Despite those miscues, Lawrence consistently beat Philadelphia’s defense and carved up the secondary during his excellent performance. He connected with wide receiver Parker Washington for an explosive 51-yard touchdown in the first quarter and later found Washington again for an impressive 27-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to temporarily put the Jaguars ahead.

However, it looked like Jacksonville was on its way to a loss when the Eagles drove down the field to retake a 17-16 lead on a 48-yard Jake Elliott field goal with just eight seconds remaining. However, Jacksonville’s Ameer Abdullah broke off a 53-yard return on the ensuing kickoff, going down with only one second left. The big play gave Jacksonville kicker Cam Little the opportunity to kick a clutch 57-yard game-winning field goal as time expired.

With the win, Lawrence and the Jaguars improved to 4-1 on the season. They’ll stay in London to play the Houston Texans next Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
