During his Sunday evening teleconference following Clemson’s 37-0 home win over Charleston Southern on Saturday, Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney gave the latest update on the status of a transfer defensive tackle.
Swinney revealed that Devarrick Woods, who was out for the Charleston Southern game due to injury, should be able to return this week vs. Virginia Tech.
Woods has been dealing with an injury in recent weeks. After making his first start with Clemson in the win over North Carolina, Woods was injured and missed the road victory over Cal. He did log a handful of snaps in the loss to Miami, but was still extremely limited.
“We expect him to be back this week,” Swinney said of Woods.
Saturday’s game vs. Virginia Tech at Memorial Stadium is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.
Prior to arriving at Clemson, the 6-foot-3, 285-pound Woods spent two seasons at Hinds (Miss.) Community College from 2023-24 before making the jump to the FBS in 2025, compiling 16 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack over 11 games at Texas State.
A fifth-year senior, Woods has logged four tackles (0.5 for loss) across four games this season.
