Top Clemson Commit Flips to SEC School

One of Clemson baseball’s big commits, ranked among the nation’s best prospects in the 2027 class, has flipped to an SEC program.

Catcher Caden Borcherding, out of Etowah High School in Georgia, announced a commitment to LSU on Monday.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder originally committed to Clemson last September, shortly after taking an official visit. He chose Erik Bakich’s program over other schools, which included Alabama, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.

“I just felt like home when I got there,” Borcherding told TCI after the commitment. “I don’t think any of those schools would have been able to compare to Clemson.”

In July, Perfect Game ranked Borcherding as the No. 32 overall prospect in the country for the 2027 class, and the second-best catcher in the class.
