It’s safe to say Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was fired up, and certainly not happy, after the first half of Saturday night’s matchup against Virginia Tech at Memorial Stadium, as his Tigers trailed the Hokies, 10-3.
During his halftime interview on ESPN with sideline reporter Sherree Burruss, Swinney was asked about true freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds and the offensive struggles.
Swinney responded to the question by saying, “It’s all coaching.”
“That’s 100% coaching,” Swinney said. “Pitiful. Pitiful. 100% coaching. That ain’t the players. That’s us.”
Swinney was then asked, how do you fix things in the second half?
“We’re fixing to fix it,” Swinney said emphatically before walking away.
Swinney’s offense was held to just one field goal and 94 total yards of offense in the first half.
Reynolds went 7-of-10 passing but for just 27 yards over the first two quarters. Gideon Davidson was the Tigers’ leading rusher in the first half with 36 yards on nine carries. No receiver had more than 11 yards.
Clemson will receive the second-half kickoff.
