Respect Alabama WR Has for Clemson Remains Unchanged

Clemson played host to an Alabama wideout with a connection to the program over the weekend.

Three-star wideout Barrett Price (Spain Park) made his return for the Tigers’ prime-time matchup against Virginia Tech on Saturday. This marked the 6-foot receiver’s first visit since working out at camp back in the summer.

“I was supposed to go to the Miami or North Carolina game, but the schedule did not work for me,” Price told The Clemson Insider. “Coach (Tyler) Grisham just reached out to see if I could come this weekend and it was a perfect fit for me and my family.”

Not only did Price get to catch up with some of the coaches on the staff, but he also got to see former teammate Brock Bradley, who is now a freshman quarterback at Clemson. The only downside to the weekend? The Tigers were beaten in the final two minutes of the game.

“It was a great weekend,” Price said. “I had a lot of fun even though it was a tough loss. We had a great time at Clemson. The coaches and everyone around the program made the day special. It is a special place, and I am grateful for the way they treated me. They check on me a lot and see how I am doing. I was excited to see all the people from this summer.”

While Clemson has yet to offer the 2028 wideout, Price has close to three dozen offers in total. Georgia, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, SMU and Kentucky make up just a small number of schools that have pulled the trigger.

Price knows the process at Clemson is different, and that the Tigers take it much slower than most others. The staff has been waiting on some of his junior film, and through eight games, the speedy receiver has impressed, totaling 45 catches for 666 yards with eight touchdown grabs.

“Coach Grisham, he has been really honest with me lately,” Price added. “We had a really good talk. He says that as the season has gone on, he has been really impressed and has seen my game grow from the summer. He wanted to see me play. Put the pads on, make some moves and be a playmaker. He said he’s just been really impressed by my season so far.”

Price has also visited Florida, Tennessee, SMU and LSU. He is still planning to make stops at Oklahoma, Auburn, Alabama and Georgia. While he’s still fairly early in the process, taking all these different visits gives him a better idea of which schools are a fit and which ones may not be.

Having watched several of the games. Price knows the Tigers are in the midst of a season in which the offense has experienced its share of struggles. However, it’s still an offer he wants, and those struggles have not changed his perception of Dabo Swinney’s program.

“I think they are used to winning at a high level,” Price said. “I know the losses are frustrating, but it does not change what I think about the program. The people, the facilities, the culture are really first class. I have a lot of respect for coach Swinney, coach Grisham and the whole staff, so it really doesn’t change the respect I have for the program.”
