ACC Network analyst and former Clemson offensive lineman Eric Mac Lain has paid off his lost wager.

Mac Lain had made a friendly bet with fellow ACCN analyst and former Virginia Tech star Eddie Royal ahead of the Oct. 24 matchup between their alma maters at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.

After the Hokies upset Clemson 20-16 — snapping a seven-game losing streak in the series for their first victory over the Tigers since 2007 — Mac Lain had to eat some crow by dressing up as Virginia Tech’s HokieBird mascot during Saturday’s broadcast of ACC Huddle.

Humbly accepting the consequence of his bet on the Tigers, Mac Lain suited up in the official mascot suit sent by the school. On air, he humorously complained about how hot/stinky the suit was and how he couldn’t breathe.

Mac Lain joked that he would be “publicly shamed” for the rest of his life.

Mac Lain joined ACC Network in 2019. He played at Clemson 2011-15, when the Tigers captured two conference championships and made a national championship appearance.
